The process of engaging in therapy can often feel daunting, leaving you with many questions about what to expect. Below you will find
answers to some frequently asked questions regarding the therapy process and Bloom Psychotherapy, LLC.

HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?
Session times vary in length depending on the session requested and scheduled. Session times offered are: 45 or 55 minutes (individual sessions) or 60 minutes (family and couples sessions).

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT BEFORE MY FIRST SESSION?​
After choosing to move forward with working together, you will be sent intake forms and practice policies via email through SimplePractice (electronic health record system - where you can also register for you client portal). It is requested that all documents are reviewed, completed and signed prior to your first session. This helps with ensuring all personal information is correctly stored in the system as well as providing needed and helpful information for session preparation and treatment planning in the initial sessions.
WHAT MODALITIES DO YOU UTILIZE IN YOUR PRACTICE?
I utilize various modalities in my practice to be able to best serve each individual and their unique needs, however, I most commonly utilize Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and their respective interventions. I also have a certification in Trauma Focused - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) in addition to being levels 1 & 2 trained in the Gottman Method for couples therapy.
HOW OFTEN ARE SESSIONS HELD AND FOR HOW LONG WILL I BE IN THERAPY?
Session frequency is decided together after determining individual needs and availability. Session frequency may change throughout the course of treatment depending on needs. The length of time in which therapy is engaged in is also dependent on individual needs and goals.

IS THERE HOMEWORK BETWEEN SESSIONS?​
Oftentimes you will be encouraged to practice or utilize learned skills and interventions or to complete relevant tasks or activities between sessions to assist with reaching goals and making and maintaining progress made throughout treatment.
ARE SESSIONS IN PERSON OR VIRTUAL
The majority of my practice is virtual at this time, however, in school sessions are offered for children and teens that are located on Martha's Vineyard.

DO YOU TAKE MY INSURANCE?​
It is requested that you look into your insurance eligibility to ensure that your insurance is active and in network. I am always happy to discuss options for those out of network. Private pay is available for those who opt to not use their insurance, do not have out of network benefits or are uninsured.
WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?
Payment for services and co-pays can be paid via cash, check, Venmo or Zelle.
